Cora and Mommy had an outing! We went to the Target Center on a bright shiny Saturday afternoon to see Disney Princesses on Ice. "Princess Wishes" it was called. Starring all of Cora's favorite princesses and special guest star Tinkerbell.
The days before we got there, Cora could ask only one question- "How is Ariel going to skate?" I asked her what she thought, but she never nailed anything down. "We'll just have to see when we get there, huh?"
Well, that morning, we dressed Cora up in her brand new Snow White dress (she got it for Christmas)and a little red purse to carry that matched. Mommy dressed up too in an outfit Cora picked out. Then off we went.
Cora's eyes were huge as we walked into the Target Center. "Look Mommy! Look at all the princesses!" Many little girls were dressed up and we saw many different pricy princess gimicks, ($50 for a program!!!) But after looking around, finally found our amazingly good for the price seats and got comfy. Cora had an excited stillness about her, as if she were taking in everything and waiting for it to disappear. As if it seemed too good and she was holding her breath.
When the lights went down and Tinkerbell came skating out on the ice, the look on Cora's face told me this was going to be good. She loved it. Her little hands went up to her face in an excited gasp, "Mommy! It's Tinkerbell!"
I have to say the show was quite entertaining. It started out a little slow with a little too much time spent on Aladin and Princess Jasmin, but the pace got quicker after the first numbers. Mickey and MInnie Mouse made brief appearances and then there was Belle. The majority of the show focused on Ariel who came out later, with mermaid pants and a skate on each foot. Cora didn't seem disappointed like I worried she'd be. Her little eyes sparkled and she sat upright in her chair. At intermission we at the lunch Daddy had packed for us. (He's so wise!)
The second half of the show featured more Ariel, Sleeping Beauty(with a fire breathing Dragon with glowing green eyes!) Mulan, and lastly Cinderella. Cinderella had a magical carriage that ended up shooting off fireworks.
All in all it was a wonderful experience.
