As part of observing nature for science this year, we've planted sunflower seeds! We got a book from the library that documents the process in a detailed way, showing each step of the process, the full life cycle. The kids have started their own from seed and are going to journal about them all summer long.
Once the sunflowers have four leaves, we'll transplant them to our Eidem Farm garden where they will be protected from deer and have much more direct sunlight.
The seeds are for Mammoth Russian sunflowers... they will get between 8-12 feet tall if they will survive. I can't wait to see that!

That's going to be such fun watching those seeds grow. Sunflowers are so dramatic! Hope those deer don't eat them!
